
Bengaluru bomb scare: CM Bommai calls it conspiracy to tarnish Karnataka's image

CM Basavaraj Bommai said the bomb threat to schools was a conspiracy to tarnish the state's image.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday instructed the police to consider the bomb threat to schools seriously and arrest all those involved. Bommai called the incident a 'conspiracy' to disturb peace and tarnish the state's progressive image.
"A conspiracy is on to disturb peace in the State. Karnataka is a progressive state and some elements are repeatedly trying to tarnish this image. Police officials have been instructed to consider these cases seriously," Bommai said in a statement.
"Those who made the bomb threat calls will be traced and arrested. Effective security and investigation measures would be taken," he added.

Seven schools in Bengaluru received e-mails saying bombs had been planted on their premises on Friday morning.
The e-mail read, "A very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention this not a joke, this is not a joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!"
Soon after the threat e-mails, police rushed to the spots, along with a bomb disposal squad to carry out search operations.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent. He provided critical intelligence on Pakistani troop movements and the country's nuclear programme, but died a lonely death after his betrayal and subsequent capture by the ISI.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
