TV actor Rupa Bhattacharjee has become the latest Bengali celebrity to resign from the BJP. She also hit out at senior party leaders in a series of open letters on Facebook after her resignation.
TV actor Rupa Bhattacharjee became the latest Bengali celebrity to leave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Soon after leaving the party, she attacked several senior BJP leaders of West Bengal in a series of Facebook posts. Speaking to India Today, Rupa Bhattacharjee, who has been a social activist apart from being an actress, stated that the BJP's defeat in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly polls was not the reason behind her resignation. "It was the humiliation I faced," she said.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
