
Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar falls ill on way to attend Matua event, returns to Raj Bhavan

The convoy of the governor turned around from Thakurnagar, some 60 km from the state capital Kolkata, and came back to the Raj Bhavan, Dhankhar’s official residence, where a team of doctors is treating him.
Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar who was on his way to attend an event of the Matua community, returned midway after falling ill.
The convoy of the governor turned around from Thakurnagar, some 60 km from the state capital Kolkata, and came back to the Raj Bhavan, Dhankhar’s official residence, where, according to local reports, a team of doctors is treating him.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee enquired about his health and assured all medical assistance to the governor.
At Thakurnagar, Dhankhar was supposed to meet the Union Minister and a leader from the Matua community, Shantanu Thakur.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
