
Bengal: CBI raids TMC MLA Subodh Adhikari’s house in chit-fund scam case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the residence of Bijpur TMC MLA Subodh Adhikari in North 24 Parganas in connection with the chit fund scam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday (September 4) raided several locations in North 24 Parganas including the residence of Bijpur TMC MLA Subodh Adhikari in connection to Halishahar municipality chairman’ chit fund scam.
A CBI delegation also visited the house of Kamal Adhikari, brother of Subodh Adhikari and the chairman of Kanchrapara Municipality. A total of six teams are conducting raids throughout Halishahar and Kanchrapara in North 24 Parganas since Sunday morning.
The CBI had, on Friday, arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Halisahar Municipality Chairman Raju Sahani in connection with a chit fund scam case. The probe agency recovered Rs 80 lakh in cash and documents of properties worth Rs 2.75 crore.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
