
Benami transactions: I-T dept files prosecution complaint against Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal

The prosecution complaint has been filed against Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, his son Pankaj and nephew Sameer.
The Income Tax department has filed a prosecution complaint against Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, his son Pankaj, nephew Sameer and their various companies over benami transactions worth Rs 100 crore. The properties include a sugar mill (Girna Sugar Mill) located in Malegaon taluka of Nashik district worth Rs 17.82 crore and land parcels at Rohinjan village in Panvel, Andheri, Santacruz worth Rs 66.90 crore, Rs 17.24 crore and Rs 7.72 crore respectively.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
