Bam Adebayo scores 83 points to pass Kobe Bryant for second-most ever in NBA game
NY Post
Bam Adebayo occupies a new spot in the NBA history books.
The Heat center scored 83 points in Miami’s 150-129 home win over the Wizards on Tuesday night in Miami, as he became the second-highest scorer in an NBA game, surpassing Lakers legend Kobe Bryant for the spot.
The record-setting night came as Adebayo also set a new Heat franchise record for most points in a single game, which had previously been LeBron James’ 62.
Bryant previously occupied the No. 2 spot in league history when he dropped 81 for the Lakers on Jan. 22, 2006.
“To be 83 [points] and to pass [Bryant], my mind is like ‘what would he say to me?’ ” Adebayo told reporters after the game. “Cause I’ve always wanted to have a conversation with him. … But just a surreal moment being in the company with someone you idolized growing up.”
Video from inside Crypto.com Arena showed a mixture of boos from the crowd after it had been announced that Adebayo had recorded 83 points during the Lakers’ game against the Timberwolves.

Most of the words Chris Drury said in July about defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov centered around the defensive side of the $49 million defenseman’s game. The Rangers president and general manager wanted to be better in front of their goaltenders. He wanted improved coverage in high-danger areas. And Gavrikov, inked to a seven-year deal at the start of free agency that month to pair with Adam Fox, possessed “qualities of an elite shutdown guy.”
