BSP appoints Akash Anand as chief national coordinator, plans to fight Bihar election alone, praises armed forces.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Sunday (May 18, 2025) appointed Akash Anand as the party’s chief national coordinator, during a special meeting held in New Delhi.
The meeting was attended by the BSP central executive committee, senior office bearers at both the national and State levels, and representatives from across the country.

Ms. Mayawati hoped that this time Akash Anand, her nephew, by taking all measures in the interest of the party and the movement, would strengthen the ideological foundations of the BSP.
“It is hoped that Akash Anand, this time will take measures carefully in the interest of the party and the movement strengthening the ideological foundations of the party,” reads a statement by the BSP.

The BSP announced to fight the upcoming Bihar Assembly election alone. “Separate discussion held on Bihar polls and the party decided to fight it alone with all its strength,” reads the statement of the BSP. Criticising the vandalism of statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha, the BSP demanded the State Governments to take such incidents serious and initiate strict action on culprits.
