Authorities, students brace for SSLC exams

There are 149 examination centres of which 56 are in the city and 93 are in the taluks of Mysuru district

Preparations are in place across the region for smooth conduct of the SSLC examination commencing from Monday. In all, 38,138 students will appear for the examination from Mysuru district this year and there are 149 examination centres of which 56 are in the city and 93 are in the taluks. In view of the examination being conducted under the shadow of COVID-19, students will be subjected to thermal screening and will also have to wear masks and follow the SOP stipulated in view of the pandemic.

The senior officials of the Department of Public Instructions including the Deputy Director of Public Instructions Mr. Ramachandraraje Urs paid a visit to some of the examination centres in the city and taluks besides having interaction with the staff.

The marking of the roll numbers and seating arrangements were completed on Saturday and the question papers will be dispatched to the examination centres from the district treasury on the day of the examination with police security. CCTV cameras have been installed at the examination centres and mobile squads constituted for surprise checks to ensure that there are no malpractice. Apart from the students and those deployed for examination duties, the entry of unauthorised persons to the centre is banned.  

The police have clamped prohibitory orders in a radius of 200 meters around the examination centre and all computer centres and photocopying kiosks will be shut on the days of the examination from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In the run up to the examination, the authorities had conducted a series of tests besides focusing on the weak points of students to ensure an improvement in their performance so as to shore up the district ranking.

Similar arrangements are in place in the neighboring district of Mandya where 21,155 students will appear for the examination of whom 11,043 are boys and 10,122 are girls. There are 82 examination centres in Mandya district and 1,058 supervisors will oversee the conduct of the examination.

In Chamarajanagar, 12,271 students will appear for the SSLC examination of whom 6,304 are boys and 5,967 are girls. The DDPI Mr. Manjunath said there are 63 examination centres across the district and preparations are in place for the smooth conduct of the examinations. The examination rooms have been sanitized. The hilly region of Hanur requires additional focus given the terrain and additional staff have been deployed besides separate routes identified to ensure timely supply of question papers, he added.
