
Assam Congress issues show-cause notice to party MLA over 'communal statement', calls him 'BJP agent'

The notice sent by Assam Congress said MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed was acting as an agent of Bharatiya Janata Party and was being sponsored to make such comments to cause damage to the Congress, especially during election time.
Assam Congress issued a show-cause notice on Friday to one of its sitting MLAs for giving statements against party policies and matters with communal overtones having great propensity to destroy the social harmony of Assam. The party also called the Congress MLA as an acting agent of the BJP.
In the show-cause notice issued to MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said that "you are acting as an agent of the BJP while being a part of the Congress party and that due to your closeness to CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma you are being sponsored to make such comments to cause damage to the Congress specially during election time."
