
Ashwini Kumar appointed as Special Officer of unified MCD, Gyanesh Bharti as Commissioner

Ashwini Kumar, will be appointed as Special Officer. On the other hand, Gyanesh Bharti, will be appointed as MCD commissioner.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Wednesday announcing May 22 as the appointed date for the unification of Delhi’s three civic bodies. Ashwini Kumar, IAS batch 1992, will be appointed as Special Officer. On the other hand, Gyanesh Bharti, IAS batch 1998, will be appointed as MCD commissioner.
Prior to this, Ashwini Kumar was Chief Secretary of Puducherry.
Gyanesh Bharti at present is the Commissioner of South MCD.
The Centre on Wednesday issued a notification saying the three civic bodies of Delhi will be formally merged on May 22.
"Both these appointments are likely to be done by the Centre in the next week. The new commissioner will begin the process of reorganising the staff as it has to be curtailed.
"Currently there are three HODs in each department of the three civic bodies but after the unification, there will be one HOD in the department. All this will have to be sorted out after the unification of municipalities," the official told PTI.
By May 22, all the three civic bodies will be dissolved, paving the way for a unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
