As Gehlot joins Congress chief race, discussion on CM post likely at Rajasthan MLAs meet tomorrow

With Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot confirming his bid for the Congress chief post, there is speculation over change of guard in the state.
A meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of Rajasthan Assembly has been called on Sunday. With Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot confirming that he will file a nomination for the Congress presidential poll, the meeting will likely discuss who will be next CM in case Gehlot quits the post.
The meeting is slated to be held at the Chief Minister's official residence in the presence of senior party leaders Ajay Maken and Mallikarjun Kharge.
K C Venugopal tweeted, “Congress President has appointed Mallikarjun Kharge as Observer along with jay Maken, General Secretary AICC, Incharge of Rajasthan, to attend the meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly slated to be held on 25th September at 7 PM.”
The meeting, which will be held at the CM’s residence, comes at a time when there is speculation about a change of guard in the state. Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Friday met Rajasthan Speaker C P Joshi, further adding to the buzz.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan minister Rajendra Gudha, one of the six BSP turned Congress MLAs said they would not oppose if Sachin Pilot is made the chief minister in case Ashok Gehlot becomes the party president and quits the CM post.
Sachin Pilot is believed to have interacted with majority of party MLAs in Rajasthan over the last three days in a bid to cement his contention for the Chief Minister's post.
