With assembly elections around the corner in five states, the daily reported Covid cases are spiking again in the country. India Today's Data Intelligence Unit looked at the Covid situation in these five states and where they stand.
With the daily reported Covid cases spiking again in the country and assembly elections in five states approaching, the Election Commission of India will soon take stock of the situation and decide the future course of action. The five poll-bound states are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
Another concern for the authorities is the rise in highly transmissible Omicron cases globally. So far, the variant of concern has spread in 22 states and Union Territories across the country.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
