
Army variant of MRSAM system completes development trials

The trials were conducted by senior officials of the Indian Army and DRDO to establish the accuracy and reliability of the weapon system against targets.
The Indian Army variant of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) system completed its development trials after successful tests at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the Odisha coast on Wednesday.
The tests were conducted by senior officials of the Indian Army and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to establish the accuracy and reliability of the weapon system against targets covering the sea-skimming and high altitude functionality within the envelope.
Performance of all weapon system components, including missiles, weapon system radar and command posts, were validated during these trials.Defence minister Rajnath Singh complimented the DRDO, the Indian Army and the defence sector for the successful launches of the MRSAM-Army and said the successful launches have once again proved the reliability of the system.
Wednesday's tests come three days after the missile system was successfully tested twice against high-speed aerial targets for different ranges as part of the live firing trials on March 27.
