SP V. Vidyasagar Naidu urges Annamayya residents to stay vigilant, report illegal activities, and join police WhatsApp channel for updates.
Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidyasagar Naidu on Wednesday issued a public advisory urging the residents of Annamayya district to remain vigilant on social media and report any illegal activities to the police immediately.
He announced the launch of a WhatsApp channel to keep citizens informed about key safety concerns, including social media awareness, road safety, women’s security, child marriages, drug abuse, cricket betting, cybercrime, and white-collar crimes.
The SP called for the responsible use of social media, advising against sharing personal information, engaging with unknown individuals, or spreading misinformation. On road safety, he urged people to follow traffic rules, wear helmets and seat belts, and avoid using mobile phones while driving.
Regarding women’s safety, he encouraged caution while traveling, avoiding suspicious individuals, and contacting the police in case of emergencies. He also highlighted the illegality of child marriages, urging people to report any such incidents to authorities.
On drug abuse and betting, the SP warned that narcotics was harmful and illegal, urging residents to report drug-related activities. He also cautioned against cricket betting.
The SP stressed the importance of cybersecurity, advising people to protect personal information online, avoid clicking suspicious links, and safeguarding financial details. He assured that the Police Department was committed to maintaining law and order and will remain accessible to the public.

The district police will continue to conduct awareness programmes to reduce crime and ensure public security, he added.
