The ED in its chargesheet revealed that former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh used to prepare a list of names of police officers and officials for postings.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its chargesheet against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh reveals that the then minister would prepare a list of names of police officers and officials for postings.
As per the ED chargesheet, Deshmukh admitted to forwarding the list of police officials and their locations. They had to be transferred to ACS (Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department) and Head of Police Establishment Board (PEB).
Deshmukh is under investigation for alleged corruption and extortion.
The ED claimed that Deshmukh played a crucial role in the reinstatement of Sachin Waze after 16 years of suspension. Waze, who was an assistant police inspector, was made head of the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of Mumbai Police. He was entrusted with several sensational investigations to allegedly extort money through him.
The ED investigation also revealed that Deshmukh used to regularly call Waze to his official residence for briefing on various cases and give instructions.
The ED investigation reveals that Deshmukh had instructed Waze to collect money from as many as 1750 bars and restaurants across Mumbai.
Also, it was on Deshmukh's instructions that Waze was harassing and pressurising bar owners to pay Rs 3 lakh each for functioning during Covid-19 pandemic when the government had put time restrictions on bars and restaurants.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent.
