
Anil Deshmukh moves SC seeking protection from coercive action in money laundering case

Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh has moved the Supreme Court seeking protection from any coercive action by ED in the money laundering case against him.
Anil Deshmukh on Sunday filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking protection from any coercive action by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case registered against him. The move comes a day after the ED issued fresh summons to Anil Deshmukh, asking him to appear before the agency on Monday. This was the third summon issued by the agency to Deshmukh.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
