The Andhra Pradesh cabinet meeting comes amid statewide protests by employees associations over the PRC issue.
Earlier this month, the Andhra Pradesh government announced a wage enhancement for its employees with fitment of 23.29 per cent while simultaneously increasing the retirement age from 60 to 62 years.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had then announced the wage revision, overruling the recommendations made by a high-level official committee headed by the Chief Secretary.
Andhra Pradesh state employees and teachers unions opposed the decision of 23 percent fitment and launched a protest against the government.
Pensioners, employee unions and teachers unions staged a protest against the 11th Pay Revision Commission (PRC).
Following this, state employees decided to hold a strike notice on Friday (January 21), demanding a set of government orders on pay revision be withdrawn forthwith.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
