
Andhra Pradesh: YSRCP leader’s ex-driver found dead in Kakinada; family alleges foul play

Subrahmanyam, a former driver of YSRCP MLC Ananta Babu, has reportedly died in an accident, said the MLC. The victim’s family has alleged foul play and filed a complaint with the Kakinada police. Police are currently hunting for the absconding MLC.
The suspicious death of Subrahmanyam, former driver of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Ananta Udaya Babu, has triggered tensions in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada city,
According to the family, Subrahmanyam was called by MLC Ananta babu on Thursday night around 9.30 pm. Later, the MLC handed over his body to his family in the wee hours of Friday, May 20, around 2 am. The family said that Ananta Babu told them that he had died in an accident.
His family members, however, have alleged that Subrahmanyam was murdered. They said that five months ago, Subrahmanyam had quit his job as the MLC’s driver.
Ratnamma, the mother of the deceased Subrahmanyam, said, “Ananta babu asked my son to come to his office around 9.30 pm last night. Around 10 pm, Ananta babu called me and asked about the money my son had borrowed. He had borrowed 20,000 rupees from Ananta babu and the MLC threatened me over the phone, asking for the money.’’
Police, who also reached the spot after tension prevailed, have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the absconding ruling party MLC.
Srinivasa Rao, Additional Superintendent of Police said, “Around 12.30 midnight, MLC Ananta Babu called the deceased man’s parents and urged them to come to Amruta hospital, where doctors informed them that Subrahmanyam was brought dead. Ratnamma, Subrahmanyam’s mother, has filed a complaint, and further investigation is in progress.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the incident, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary, Nara Lokesh, demanded the immediate arrest of YSRCP MLC Ananta Udaya Bhasker alias Ananta Babu for allegedly 'murdering' his former driver.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
