Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh lays stone for ₹22,000 crore ReNew complex in Anantapur

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh lays stone for ₹22,000 crore ReNew complex in Anantapur

Nara Lokesh lays foundation for ₹22,000 crore ReNew Renewable Energy Complex in Anantapur, boosting India's green energy sector.

As a boost to the green energy sector, Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh on Friday (May 16, 2025) laid the stone and performed “bhumi puja” for the ₹22,000 crore ReNew Renewable Energy Complex in Anantapur, marking a milestone in India’s transition toward clean and sustainable power.

In his public address, Mr. Lokesh observed that the ReNew Renewable Energy Complex was going to be the cornerstone of India’s clean energy revolution. “It is a symbol of bold ambition and sustainable progress of Andhra Pradesh. This is set for a revolutionary step towards energising hope, fuelling ambition, and lighting the way to a cleaner tomorrow,” Mr. Lokesh said.

The Minister underlined the importance of renewable energy, saying that it was not merely an industry but a massive industrial movement. “This is like a bridge between today’s dreams and future responsibilities. We have free sunlight, wind and clean air. Let our future generations not pay the price for our planet’s degradation. Let this project be a leap that we take with a great purpose and determination, from fossil fuels to future energy,” Mr. Lokesh said.

Crediting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s “dynamic leadership” for attracting big investments to the State, Mr. Lokesh termed him “Brand Babu.”, “Though we don’t have big cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, or Hyderabad, we do have one powerful brand — our Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. This brand is enough to bring industry bigwigs such as ReNew’s Sumant Sinha and TCS to the State,” the Minister maintained.

Saying that the massive industrial plans were part of the Telugu Desam Party’s “Super 6” promises, Mr. Lokesh reaffirmed the party’s commitment to generating 20 lakh jobs. “The ReNew project is projected to create at least 10,000 jobs for the local youth, both men and women, directly, and several more indirectly,” he said.

Acknowledging the role of local farmers in making the ReNew project a reality, Mr. Lokesh said the plant was being established because the farmers of Rayalaseema district came forward to liberally give their lands. “I extend my wholehearted congratulations to all he farmers, who are stakeholders here. Their gesture would not go to waste,” he said.
