
Andhra govt to distribute food grains, other essentials to families in flood-hit areas

Essential commodities will be distributed to flood-affected families in Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa and Anantapur districts.
The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to distribute essential commodities like rice, dal, edible oil, onions, and potatoes to flood-affected families in Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa and Anantapur districts free of cost. The decision was taken after a review meeting chaired by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The unprecedented rains resulted in reservoirs and rivers in Andhra Pradesh's Rayalseema region to overflow.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
