Allow women to commit one murder without punishment: NCP-SP leader Rohini Khadse urges President Murmu

NCP women's wing urges President for immunity to commit one murder amid rising crimes against women.

Against the backdrop of International Women’s Day, Opposition alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar’s) (NCP)(SP) women’s wing on Saturday (March 8, 2025), urged President Droupadi Murmu to allow women to commit one murder, without any punishment in view of the growing crime against women.

Women’s wing president, Rohini Khadse wrote a letter to the President mentioning, women want to kill the oppressive mentality, rapist mindset and ignorant law and order in India. 

Referring to the 12-year-old girl gang-rape case in Mumbai, Ms. Khadse said, “The incident happened two days ago in Mumbai, think what the situation might be across the country. In the World Population Review Survey, India was ranked the most unsafe country for women in Asia concerning their safety and security. The survey includes information on the abduction of women, the disappearance of women, domestic violence and other heinous issues. Given the scenario, we demand on behalf of all women to allow us immunity against one murder.” 

“Women are vulnerable in our country, as violence against them is increasing with each passing day,” she added, saying Maharani Tara Rani and Ahilya Devi Holkar picked up weapons to protect their motherland, so to improve our society, why should stay behind? 

Meanwhile, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar slammed the Mahayuti alliance over Ladki Bahin Yojana through a letter addressed to beneficiaries of the scheme, wherein women were given ₹1,500 per month. “Women gave a vote to Mahayuti over this scheme, leaders promised to pay ₹2,100 if the grand coalition government comes, but now imposing various criteria to exclude the name of beneficiaries. This is fraud and they are cheating you,” said Mr. Wadettiwar, without taking the name of DCM Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and CM Devendra Fadnavis. 

He asked, “Whether they will forgive these people or show their power by teaching a lesson to people, who are in power.”
