M. Balakrishnan, former Akashvani head, passes away at 58 due to heart attack, leaving behind a legacy of contributions.
M. Balakrishnan, programme head of Akashvani, Thrissur, passed away at his house at Ottapalam, Palakkad, Kerala, on Thursday (December 19, 2024). He was 58. Family sources said the death was due to a heart attack. He was former head of Akashvani, Manjeri.
He has been married to V.P. Sulabha, former deputy director of the Information and Public Relations Department.
His contributions to Akashvani have been widely appreciated. It was Balakrishnan who initiated interactive programmes with the public on Akashvani in 1990s.
He is survived by wife Sulabha. The funeral took place at Ivor Madom, Thiruvilwamala, on Thursday afternoon.
