Alert sounded in sensitive areas, Karnataka following Central guidelines, says CM Siddaramaiah

Karnataka government increases security measures following India's strikes on Pakistan, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirms drills and alert status.

Consequent to India carrying out strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, the Karnataka government has initiated drills as per the Central guidelines and security personnel were in a state of alert at sensitive installations and critical infrastructure, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Gejjalagere near Maddur, in Mandya district on Thursday (May 8, 2025).

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Siddaramaiah – who will take part in a few official and private programmes in the district – said that all guidelines issued by the Centre were being complied with and security has been beefed up at vital installations like dams as part of the enhanced security protocols.

“We are on high alert across Karnataka. Instructions from the Centre are being followed diligently. Precautionary drills are being carried out to ensure public safety in case of any unforeseen circumstances,” said Mr. Siddaramaiah.

In response to a question on special prayers in temples coming under Muzrai Department, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that minister Ramalinga Reddy had taken the decision in consultation with him.

Responding to allegations by the BJP regarding the status of Pakistani nationals residing in the state, the Chief Minister said that “almost all Pakistani nationals in Karnataka have been deported.”

‘’Only a few individuals, particularly in Mysuru, have taken the legal route by approaching the courts. Other than those cases, the deportation process has been effectively carried out. But I have no information about the number of such persons still in the State,” said Mr. Siddaramaiah.
