Shiv Sena rubbished any possibility of aligning with AIMIM, saying the latter would never become a part of the MVA alliance in Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena has rubbished the possibility of allying with AIMIM by saying it will not accept it as a fourth partner in the MVA alliance in Maharashtra.
Sena MP Sanjay Raut went on to say that thinking of such an alliance with AIMIM is equivalent to a disease. “how can we have an alliance with a party which kneels and bows in front of the grave of Aurangzeb. Don’t even think about it. Thinking of it is akin to a disease. Shiv Sena follows the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and will do so in future as well.” he said
Further, Raut claimed that the BJP and AIMIM were in a secret alliance. “You would have seen it in UP as well. So, with such a party (with secret alliance with BJP) we keep a distance,” he said.
When asked to react to the proposal of AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel, Raut said that the MVA in Maharashtra will remain a three-party alliance. “In Maharashtra there is a three-party government (Sena, Congress and NCP). A fourth party won’t come in. Imtiaz Jaleel of AIMIM is an MP. I met him in Delhi but that doesn’t mean we are having an alliance,” he said.
Imtiaz Jaleel said that for long AIMIM has been charged of facilitating a BJP win by splitting Muslim votes. “We said let’s just end it once and for all. When I met NCP leader I said we are ready to join Congress and NCP in Maharashtra. But we know this won’t be acceptable to the Shiv Sena. We have given the proposal so let’s see what happens,” Jaleel said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly, Devendra Fadnavis, said that all the parties can try and allign against the BJP but the people of the country and Maharashtra are firmly behind Narendra Modi and that the BJP would win.
“They all can join. They are just the same. But our focus will be to see what Shiv Sena does now in this alliance.” he said. Fadnavis added that when parties lose elections they blame EVMs and call AIMIM the B team of BJP. “There is no need to give any importance to such talks.” he said.
