After Siddaramaiah announces 2023 state polls to be his last, DK Shivakumar hints at becoming next Karnataka CM

During an event, Congress leader DK Shivakumar hinted at becoming the next chief minister of Karnataka with the support of the Vokkaliga community.
A day after Congress leader Siddaramaiah announced that the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections would be his last poll contest, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar, on Tuesday, July 19, hinted at becoming the chief minister of the state with the support of the Vokkaliga community.
DK Shivakumar was addressing an event where the members of the Vokkaliga community were present. Shivakumar, who belongs to the Vokkalinga community, referred to former Karnataka CM SM Krishna and said, “SM Krishna too is a Vokkaliga and now, there is a chance of a Vokkaliga to become the chief minister and it is in the hands of the community”.
“Your community has one more chance after SM Krishna. I won't tell you who has the chance from the community. It's in your hands to save it and nurture it”, added Shivakumar.
Earlier, former Karnataka CM and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah had announced that 2023 assembly elections would be his last election. “2023 will be my last election. I will not contest from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysore district. They didn’t vote for me last time,” said Siddaramaiah.
Former chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have been at loggerheads for the CM post in the state.
