After Mumbai civic body’s threat, Rana couple to regularise 10 unauthorised changes at Mumbai flat

Navneet and Ravi Rana told a civil court on Tuesday that they will regularise the ten unauthorised changes made to their Mumbai flat, as flagged by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana have decided to regularise the unauthorised constructions at their flat in Mumbai’s Khar, as flagged by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in a notice earlier this month.
The couple will file an application regarding the same before the civic body soon, they informed a civil court on Tuesday. The court asked the Ranas to file their application within a month, failing which the BMC will be at liberty to take appropriate action against them.
On May 21, the BMC had issued a notice to the couple regarding the illegal construction. The civic body had given the Rana couple seven days to remove the unauthorised construction at the flat or face action.
After conducting a survey of the Ranas’ Khar residence, the BMC said it found ten illegal additions and alterations at their flat.

Navneet and Ravi Rana, politicians from Maharashtra, became household names after the Hanuman Chalisa row last month.
The two were arrested by the Mumbai police in April after they threatened to chant the Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s residence. They were booked under sedition, among other charges. The two were released from jail in the first week of May.
