After starting a controversy by announcing compensation for the Red Fort violence accused farmers, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday announced the cancellation of various FIRs registered against the protesting farmers.
Channi announced this after meeting the leaders of Sayunkt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of 32 farmer unions in Chandigarh.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
