After Bijapur encounter, counter operation against Naxals on the cards, says Chhattisgarh DGP

Chhattisgarh DGP DM Awasthi said security forces are reorganising their operations and are likely to keep a close watch on the Naxals before launching a counter operation.

Two days after Naxals killed 22 security personnel and injured 31 in a deadly encounter in Chhattisgarh, the security forces are all set to launch a counter operation in the coming days. Speaking to India Today TV, Director General of Police (DGP) Chhattisgarh, DM Awasthi said the forces are re-organising their operations but there will a counter operation against the Naxals. “We are re-organising our operations. We will check what our shortcomings were. The next two-three months are crucial for anti-Naxal operations. We must undertake anti-Naxal tactics. A strong operation has to be there,” he said.
