
8-year-old boy shows monkeypox symptoms in Andhra's Guntur, hospitalised

An 8-year-old boy showed symptoms of monkeypox in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur. He has been kept under isolation at the district hospital.
Tension prevailed in Gantur district of Andhra Pradesh after a suspected monkeypox case was reported on Saturday. An eight-year-old boy was admitted to Government General Hospital (GGH) with monkeypox symptoms.
According to health officials, the boy is from Odisha and had arrived in Andhra Pradesh 15 days ago. However, after a week, the boy developed fever and rashes.
Administration official of GGH, Dr Praveen Kumar said, “The boy was diagnosed with rashes and symptoms of monkeypox by the local Public health department. He was immediately shifted to hospital and kept under isolation. Samples have been collected and sent to NIV Pune. Results are awaited”.
Till now, India has reported four cases of monkeypox, of which three cases are from Kerala while one is from Delhi.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
