A roadways bus was hit by a trailer on National Highway 27 in Ayodhya on Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least six passengers. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the 6 victims.

The accident took place at the Kotwali-Rudauli area on an overbridge where the stationary roadways bus was rammed by the trailer from behind. The bus was travelling from Kanpur to Basti. Six of the passengers died immediately while two others were left severely injured. They were rushed to the district hospital for treatment.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
