50 sovereigns of burgled gold jewellery recovered in Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri police recover 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery within days of burglary, arresting the accused in the process.
The Krishnagiri police recovered 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery in less than a fortnight of the burglary, which was returned to the owner and the accused was arrested on Saturday (January 31, 2026).
According to the police, J. Karuppusamy had left for his home town with his family on January 15 and returned on January 18, but found his house burgled. Around 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 1/4 kg of silver were stolen.
A special team was formed to investigate the case and the CCTVs in the locality were tracked.
The accused was identified as R.Suresh of Pasupathipalayam of Karur, who was currently at Thadampatty in Salem. During investigation, it was found that Suresh was also involved in another burglary in Dharmapuri on January 3 in the house of Rajasekaran.
Following interrogation, all 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery was recovered.
The Superintendent of police P. Thangadurai has advised the public to inform the local police station in the event of heading out of town for long periods to ensure special beat patrol at nights. Further, public are also advised to install CCTVs in their premises to help in surveillance.
