In a dramatic early morning rescue operation, over 50 residents were rescued from a multi-storey building that caught fire at Udamgadda, Mailardevpally on Sunday.
The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by a short-circuit, erupted at around 7:18 a.m. on Sunday at the G+3 floor building with an additional penthouse. No deaths have been reported.
A fire tender from Chandrayangutta fire station rushed to the spot and doused the flames in about 90 minutes.
Among those rescued were 20 children, including 15-month-old Moiz, 2-year-old Rafi, 5-year-old Mahjabin Katun, and 12-year-old Md Ahad. Adults included 25-year-old Abdul Bari, 33-year-old Makeen Katun, and 62-year-old Kamar Unnisa.
A case has been booked and an investigation is on.
