3rd teen charged with 1st-degree murder in Carry the Kettle quadruple homicide

A third person has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of four people on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation earlier this year.
A 17-year-old boy is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder, following an "ongoing and complex investigation," Saskatchewan RCMP said in a Wednesday news release.
The charges relate to the deaths of two men and two women found inside a home on the First Nation, about 80 kilometres east of Regina, on Feb. 4, 2025.
The four victims were identified as Tracey Hotomani, 34, and Terry Jack, 51, both from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation; Shauna Fay, 47, from Indian Head; and Sheldon Quewezance, 44, from Zagime Anishinabek.
Police allege the teen was also involved in an altercation with a fifth person at the residence that night and is charged with attempted murder in connection with that incident.
The teen cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
RCMP say the youth was arrested Wednesday after officers executed a search warrant at a Carry the Kettle home, with assistance from File Hills First Nations Police Service.
He is scheduled to appear in Regina provincial court Thursday morning.
Two others were charged in connection with the homicides earlier this year.
On Feb. 18, RCMP arrested Darrius Racette, who was 18 at the time, along with a 15-year-old boy, who also cannot be named. Both face four counts of first-degree murder.
A jury trial for Racette is scheduled to begin at Regina Court of King's Bench in February 2027.
"This investigation didn’t end when the initial charges were laid,” Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, senior investigative officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP major crimes division, said in Wednesday's news release.
"For the past 10 months, our investigators have kept working to provide answers to the victims’ families and to the community of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation."
RCMP say officers continued to assess public safety risks as the investigation continued and, after consulting with Crown prosecutors, identified the third person believed to be involved.
