37,337 students to write II PU, 29,397 students to take SSLC-1 in Dakshina Kannada

Over 66,000 students in Dakshina Kannada gear up for II PU and SSLC-1 examinations, with enhanced support and facilities.

A total of 37,337 students from Dakshina Kannada will take the II PU examination at 59 centres from February 28 to March 17. Meanwhile, 29,397 class 10 students in the district will sit for the SSLC-1 examination from March 18 to April 2.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan and zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwarde Vinayak Karbhari stated that teachers were working hard to achieve the government’s goal of 100% result in the two examinations.

Mr. Darshan said that not many students appeared in the first preparatory SSLC examination, which saw a pass percentage of 52%. A greater number of students took the second preparatory examination, where the pass percentage increased to 68.24%. “The third preparatory examination remains crucial, as it will identify the number of students who are still struggling. Teachers will focus on these slow learners and help prepare them for the SSLC-1 examination,” he said.

Alongside the BEO concerned, he and Mr. Karbhari will soon meet class 10 students in schools and help alleviate their anxiety and stress. Class 10 and II PU students can also reach out to Tele Manas National Helpline at 14416 for counselling. Additionally, the district administration will soon launch a seperate local helpline for students.

This year, the highest number of Class 10 students, totalling 5,949, are from Bantwal education block, followed by 5,498 from Mangaluru North, 5,138 from Mangaluru South, 4,881 from Puttur, 4,014 from Belthangady, 1,997 from Moodbidri and 1,920 from Sullia block.

Meanwhile, 18,559 PU students will write in the II PU-1 examination across 59 examination centers. The pass percentage for students from Government and Aided PU Colleges was 75% in the first preparatory exam, which improved to 85% in the second preparatory, he said.
