Three MNS workers were arrested over the assault of a woman in Mumbai.
A woman has accused three members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) of assaulting her. The three accused MNS party workers have been identified as Vinod Argile, Raju Argile and Satish Lad.
Following the complaint filed by the woman, Maharashtra Police detained the accused. They have been sent to Taloja jail in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai until September 9. The three accused were arrested and produced before a magistrate.
Sources confirmed that they were earlier released on bail in cases registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They have been booked under section 309 (attempt to suicide), 352 (criminal force), 337 (hurt), and 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
On Sunday, Nagpada Police Station filed a preventive action application against the three accused. Stating that the accused could cause law and order issues amid Ganpati festivities, they were sent to jail.
"Considering the festive season, it is likely that the release of detainees will create disturbance in the maintenance of law and order. Their detention is required till the festive season is over," the application read.
