An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and three live hand grenades were recovered from a vacant lot adjoining a private university on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway on Sunday.
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and three live hand grenades were recovered from a vacant lot adjoining a private university on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway on Sunday.
The explosives were spotted by a few migrant workers in the vicinity, who immediately reported the matter to the police. Ambala's Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh along with police force immediately rushed to the site.
A bomb disposal squad was called in and the three hand grenades were safely defused.
Ambala SP Jashandeep Singh told India Today that some documents were also recovered along with the explosives. A case has been registered under the Explosives Act and an investigation is underway.
“The matter will be investigated from every angle, the details of the case have been conveyed to the NIA and central agencies,” the Ambala SP said.
