24 lakh online child sexual abuse cases with 80% girls under 14 reported in India from 2017 to 2020

As many as 24 lakh online child sexual abuse cases, with 80 per cent of girls under 14, have been reported in India from 2017 to 2020.

Sexual abuse against children is one of the major concerns for the law enforcement agencies and governments in India. According to Interpol, an estimated 2.4 million instances of online child sexual abuse were reported in India from 2017 to 2020. Eighty per cent of these children were girls under the age of 14.

Unfortunately, the content and consumers of child pornography are growing at a sharp rate. According to a finding by the authorities, the search engines on the internet show that over 1,16,000 searches are made every day related to child pornographers.
