23 government offices shift to Praja Soudha

Praja Soudha in Padil houses 23 government offices, with some experiencing water leakage due to heavy rains.
Ten days after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated Praja Soudha, a complex of government offices, at Padil in the city, 23 government offices have shifted their offices to the three-floor building.
The first floor of the building has the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and the Additional Deputy Commissioner. The revenue, legal, protocol and election sections are also on this floor. The offices of the Assistant Commissioner of Endowment, Endowment Tahsildar, Bhoomi Cell, KSWAN, District Urban Development Cell, Disaster Management, and NIC are also located here. The space allocated to the Food and Civil Supplies and Treasury departments lies vacant.
Offices of District Ground Water, District Child Protection Unit, B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation, Town and Country Planning Department, Employment Exchange and Training, and District Registrar are functioning from the ground floor. The space on the ground floor for the Mines and Geology Department is yet to be occupied.
Also on the ground floor is the ‘Public Interface’ area where people can submit their letters to the Deputy Commissioner and other district-level officials. There is also the Atal Janasnehi Kendra, where people can obtain income, caste, and other certificates. There is also an RTC counter and Aadhaar Enrolment counter in this area.
The room allocated to the Mangaluru One centre remained locked on Tuesday. No offices have moved to the second and third floors of the building.
Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Santosh Kumar said so far, 23 offices have moved to the new building. Interior work in several offices is yet to be completed, he said.
Following heavy rains and winds on Monday, water leaked from the space between two horizontal columns, near the office of the Employment Exchange. There was also a leakage of water on the walls of the building following damage to a portion of the transparent sheets on the roof because of strong winds on Monday.
