
2 electrocuted to death, 2 hurt during Ganesh Chathurthi celebration in TN’s Virudhunagar

Two men died due to electrocution and two others were badly injured after a temple cart came in contact with a transformer after the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar. Two injured men are being treated at a hospital.
Two men were electrocuted to death and two others were badly injured after a temple cart came in contact with a transformer during the Ganesh Chathurthi procession in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district.
Marimuthu and Muneeswaran were electrocuted to death on Wednesday, when the temple cart, belonging to Somasundara Vinayakar temple, came in contact with a transformer. Two others, who were injured, are currently being treated.
After the Ganesh Chathurthi celebration, the idol was taken to the ‘Chapram’ to a nearby water body for immersion. After that, Marimuthu and Muneeswaean were taking the temple cart back when the top part of it got stuck in a tree.
As they tried to wiggle it out, a portion of the car came in contact with a transformer, electrocuting all four men on it. Marimuthu and Muneeswaran died on the spot due to the electrocution while two others were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Sethur Police have filed a case and are investigating the accident.
