A worker died and another was injured in an explosion at the Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha's Rourkela district.
A worker died and another was injured in an explosion at the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Odisha's Rourkela district on Sunday. The injured person was shifted to Ispat General Hospital for treatment.
The explosion occurred when maintenance work was being undertaken at the plant. The explosion reportedly took place in a gas pipeline in Captive Power Plant I at 11.30 am.
The deceased has been identified as Amar Kumar Panda of Subaspali, Rourkela. Another person, Sushil Kumar Deogram, was critically injured in the accident.
The duo worked as contractual employees at the steel plant.
The RSP authorities have formed a team to carry out an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, locals and contractual workers' association have demanded appropriate compensation for the family of the deceased worker.
