1 held, PFI leaders named as accused over minor's hate slogan at Kerala rally

A case has been filed and one person has been held by the police over hate slogans raised at a PFI rally in Kerala.
The Kerala Police has taken one person into custody over alleged provocative slogans raised by a minor during a rally of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the Alappuzha district. A case has also been lodged in the matter and leaders of the group have also been named as accused.
The person who has been held hails from Kottayam's Erattupetta. It is suspected that he brought the child to the rally, Manorama reported.
PFI Alappuzha unit president Navas Wandan and Secretary Mujeeb have also been named as the first and second accused in the case. The person who carried the boy on his shoulders would also be considered an accused in the case.
Police said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code that dealt with the offence of promoting enmity between different religious groups.
"The case has been registered against the organisers of the event. Section 153 A has been charged. The case is also against the group of people with whom the minor boy attended the rally," a police officer said.
In a video that emerged on social media, a young boy could be heard chanting slogans against Hindus and Christians at a rally believed to be organised by the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Kerala’s Alappuzha on Saturday.
In the video, the boy who was being carried on a man’s shoulders said, “Keep rice ready. Yama [god of death] will visit your home. If you live respectfully, you can live in our place. If not, we don’t know what will happen.”
