
1 dead, 4 hospitalized in mass shooting at Pawtucket, RI, high school hockey game

A young girl was killed and four other people were hospitalized after a gunman opened fire in the middle of a high school hockey game in Rhode Island on Monday afternoon.
The full number of wounded was not immediately known, but the suspect in the broad daylight shooting died at the scene, WPRI reports.
The mayor’s office said that authorities aren’t searching for any additional suspects, according to a statement obtained by WJAR.
The shooting was reported at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, RI. The arena is home ice for the Johnson and Wales Wildcats hockey team.
Students from Coventry, Johnston, North Providence, and North Smithfield high schools were all participating in games with St. Raphael Academy and Providence Country Day School when the shooting occurred, according to reported by WJAR.
An employee at a nearby Walgreens told WPRI that people came streaming into the store following the shooting to report the incident.
