
1,100 students shortlisted at DU job fair

Delhi University's placement drive and internship fair attracted 1,367 candidates with 1,100 shortlisted by 31 companies for jobs.
Delhi University conducted a placement drive and an internship fair on Wednesday, in which 1,367 candidates took part of which 1,100 were shortlisted for further rounds of the 31 companies that attended the event to offer jobs.
The university, in a statement, said that the companies attended the fair to hire for 1,200 vacancies across various sectors.
Speaking to The Hindu, Ranjan Kumar Tripathi, the Dean of Students’ Welfare, said, “We are committed to expanding such opportunities and providing 100% placement. Last year, over 1,800 students were placed, and the highest package offered was around ₹37 lakh per year. We also provide training for interviews, collaborating with many institute experts.”
Atul Rajput, an alumnus who is one of the recruiters at the placement fair, said that in 2023, he was part of the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme, after which he worked as a technical assistant at Dean Student’s Welfare and then got placed at BackBenchers — an ed-tech firm. “It has been a great journey from being recruited to now recruiting candidates”, Mr. Rajput said.
“Expert Global — a tech company is offering a lucrative package of ₹12 lakh per year, while Axis IIT/NEET, a coaching institute, is offering packages up to ₹7.2 lakh per year and a maximum stipend of ₹30,000 per month,” the university said in a statement.
Meanwhile, students from various colleges and different backgrounds took part in the event have shared their experiences.
“I am looking for opportunities specifically in business and finance with a minimum expected package of ₹4.5 lakh per year, as I come from the commerce department and applied for banking and finance companies that are looking for my skill set,” said Lakshay Sharma, a student from the commerce department.
