WTC Final: None of India's batsmen showed the temperament to draw the match, says Madan Lal

India ended up being all out for 170 runs in the second innings, setting New Zealand a target of 139 which captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor chased down.
India could have drawn the World Test Championship (WTC) Final had their batsmen managed to stay in the middle for a few more hours during the final day on Wednesday, said former pacer Madan Lal. Lal, who was part of the team that won the 1983 World Cup, also praised New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for how he handled bowlers and his field placements. "New Zealand were the deserving team and their captain deserves a lot of credit. The way they got our batsmen out and their field placements, I feel that (Kane Williamson's) captaincy was top class. It is disappointing, it's not that India are a bad team. They are actually a very good, balanced team. But our problem away from home has always been that if you don't make runs, it becomes very difficult to win matches," Lal told Aaj Tak.More Related News
