WTC Final: India will go with Rohit and Gill but Mayank needs to be considered, says ex-NZ coach Mike Hesson
India Today
Mike Hesson feels Mayank Agarwal would be a good choice to open in the WTC final against New Zealand despite the right-hander losing his place to Shubman Gill earlier this year on the tour of Australia.
Mike Hesson made a case for Mayank Agarwal to be considered as an opening option by India in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final mainly due to his experience of having faced New Zealand bowlers in red-ball cricket. Mayank went to the tour of New Zealand last year in which he opened in both the Tests with Prithvi Shaw in Wellington and Christchurch. He registered scores of 34, 58, 7 and 3 in both the games which India lost. But a dip in form saw Mayank lose his place as opener to Shubman Gill on the 2020-21 tour of Australia. He played in the first, second and fourth Tests in the Border-Gavaskar series before warming the bench in the home Tests against England in February-March.More Related News
