WTC Final: Batting great Sunil Gavaskar said that he would have certainly considered picking Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the summit clash against New Zealand.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said that he would have certainly picked swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the fourth pacer only for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Gavaskar pointed out that Bhuvneshwar played the entire IPL 2021 before it was suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis. Bhuvneshwar wasn’t picked for the tour to England and is currently with the Indian limited-overs side in Sri Lanka as the vice-captain. The Indian seamer trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah for the World Test Championship finals haven’t been effective so far. Shami and Sharma did generate some movement but Bumrah has looked ordinary during most parts of New Zealand's first innings on Day 3 and Day 5. Notably, Sharma, Bumrah, and Shami are all seam bowlers. And, what India required under the conditions was a swing bowler like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who could move the ball around in the air.More Related News
