Customs officials arrested a woman passenger at Pune airport for attempting to smuggle 500-gram gold worth Rs 26 lakh.
Customs officials arrested a 34-year-old woman flyer from Dubai at Pune airport for attempting to smuggle 500-gram gold worth Rs 26 lakh.
Based on specific inputs, the woman was intercepted by the officers. Upon detailed examination, it was found that the passenger had smuggled 24-carat gold weighing 500 grams, valued at Rs 26.45 lakh, in the form of crude bangles and chains.
She travelled by a SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Pune International Airport on May 5.

The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act.
Furthermore, the woman who came to receive her at the airport was also arrested by the police after the initial probe.
Further investigation is underway.
