
Woman charged with impaired driving in fatal Annapolis Valley crash

An 87-year-old woman from Berwick, N.S., was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday that crashed into a ditch where she was standing.
First responders were called to the crash in Wolfville Ridge, N.S., around 2:30 p.m. local time.
RCMP said an SUV failed to negotiate a turn, left the road and travelled through a ditch, hitting the victim as she stood near a car that was off the road.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 92-year-old Berwick man, sustained minor injuries.
A child that was in the SUV was taken to hospital for observation.
RCMP said the driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old woman from Berwick, was charged with drug impaired driving causing death. She was due to appear in court Thursday.
She was not injured in the crash.
