The billionaire's platform offered the massive prize money to an account littered with controversial posts.
Elon Musk’s X has awarded its $1 million prize for “high-value, high-impact” writing to a user with a history of making racist, anti-immigration posts on the platform.
@beaverd, an X account described as an “affiliate” of crypto casino Toshi Bet, won the platform’s grand prize for an article on the consulting firm Deloitte, the platform announced Tuesday.
In the past year, the user — whose bio includes an ableist slur and whose avatar is linked to a project associated with racist, extremist content — has churned out posts slamming multiculturalism and promoting a conspiracy theory that a “jew weather machine” is being used to target red states.
In one post, the account responded to a Department of Homeland Security claim that “anti-ICE agitators” were targeting Customs and Border Protection dogs. The DHS post included a picture of one canine’s feed chart with the words “ICE OUT” written at the top of the page.
“this dog’s life is worth more than renee good’s,” replied the user, namedropping the Minneapolis resident whose fatal shooting ignited nationwide protests against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
