Windsor police re-arrest man wanted by FBI for "decades-old" sexual assault of minor

Windsor police have arrested a 74-year–old suspect in a "historic child sexual assault" case for a second time after he allegedly violated bail conditions while awaiting extradition to the U.S.
The man is wanted by the FBI "in connection with a decades-old sexual assault of a minor," the Windsor Police Service said in a press release Thursday. Officers with Toronto police's fugitive squad originally arrested the suspect in Windsor on Sept. 11.
"He was subsequently released on bail pending an extradition hearing, under strict conditions including house arrest, electronic monitoring, and accompaniment by a surety," Windsor police said.
Last month, Windsor police "launched an investigation and confirmed the suspect had violated his conditions on multiple occasions," the press release said. Officers arrested the man on Wednesday in the 1600 block of Martindale Street.
The man, who faces multiple charges in the U.S. — including flight to avoid prosecution, four counts of rape, and more — now also faces three counts of failure to comply with a release order, police said.
The man's surety — the person who agreed to supervise him while out on bail — has also been charged with three counts of facilitating a breach of a release order, police said.
